Henry Lhuillier Pawnshop/Jewelry Opens .......with Mayor Yoly and Loreta Tupa

Today May 3, 2010, marks another milestone for the people of Palompon, Leyte with the opening of Henry Lhuillier Pawnshop and Jewelry located right in front of SM shopping mall at Rizal Street with the Mayor himself and Mrs. Loreta Tupa doing the honors of cutting the ribbon, officially signalling the opening and Father Antonio P. Adre leading the blessing of the said place place.

The cutting of ribbon started at exactly 10:00 AM with the blessing immediately followed after with Mr Dante Verano of H. Lhuillier, area head for Region 8 representing management in the said affair.

Also present of course is the officer-incharge of the Palompon branch Ms. Jezzavel Cadavos and her able assistant Ms. Jinky Camacho.

There are other employees present coming from different branches in Leyte, as can be seen by the proliferation of yellow colors printed with the logo of the said company. Particularly present were Ms. Christine Mherry Aprilyn R. Bayate of Isabel Branch and also Ms. Jinky Unabia from Maasin City Branch 1.

After a little while or right after the blessing, it rained so to speak with candies and coins thrown in the air and direction of people converging in the small office space and even at the streets where some people are ogling and wondering whats happening, only to find out that its raining manna (i.e candies and coins) from heaven.

Of course we cannot forget the food offered by the newly opened pawnshop/jewelry shop right after the blessing. Food that was catered by Beltran catering at Taft street, Palompon, Leyte.

There were so many foods in the table, but at my age I am not particular anymore about whats on the table as long as there is fish of whatever cooking style it is, I am not adverse and will readily take it so long as my hungry stomach will be filled.

Slowly afterwards, the employees assigned with the help of the area manager himself began accepting "prendas" from townfolks, the aim of which is to avail of the free T-shirt given free to the first 100 customers.

I even tried to ask for an assessment of my personal ring which happily was given an assessment of P11,100.00. But I didn't immediately pawn it since I don't have any purpose of what I'll do with the proceeds of the money.

Golden Dragon Marketing

The scheduled blessing last September 26, 2009 of the newly finished Saint Francis Xavier Parish plaza was marred by the tail end of typhoon "Ondoy" which wrought havoc in Metro Manila. Though the blessing pushed through even with the rain soaked tables, many still braved the weather and stayed behind to show camaraderie with various faith communities and organizations present during the wet and windy affair. The plaza now is a showcase for the parishioners.

Many feel that they are part owner of the plaza since many have contributed from a single piece to several hundreds of stone blocks, depending on the capacity of the donors. Early morning joggers or health buffs can be seen, some bringing babies with them. They can feel the safety and cleanliness of the new plaza.

In the evening, promenaders can afford to stay late since the kaleidoscope of lights are put on. Maybe there will come a time when dancing lights with music will be the next project of some well to do families to enhance the beauty of Palompon.

Golden Dragon Marketing

Meanwhile, simple opening was initiated last September 28, 2009 of the Golden Dragon Marketing a store located at the former KODAK store beside JULIE's Bakeshop in Rizal Street, Central I, Palompon, Leyte. Without so much fanfare the store, that deals with household merchandise, ready to wear products and much much more, have been visited by so many Palomponganons but the problem is as usual......almost all the products came from only one country......China.

Still the much awaited opening and blessing of SM (Sayong & Manuel) Palompon was again moved to a new date i.e........ October 19, 2009. But the long wait can be forgiven, since the owners will be introducing a brand new Mini Mart on the ground floor and about 12 stallholders on the second floor, wanted a no hitch opening where everybody will be happy to see a brand new store with brand a new experience that every Palomponganons can be proud of, since the store will be air-conditioned and using state of the art computers and POS to give shoppers the comfort that they usually experience in big establishments in mega cities such as Cebu and Metro Manila. As of this writing the facade of the building was almost complete, with the installation of signage put in place, and finishing touches here and there being rushed to avoid another opening extention.

Another highly awaited is the opening of BRODETH MARKETING, a wholesale and retail hardware establishment located at Rizal Street, Brgy. Guiuan I, a stone throw away from the Roman Catholic Cemetery, a four story building which is almost complete as of this writing except for the finishing touches that will definitely took sometime. Of course many are wishing for the early completion of the building, since they know that competition will bring down the prices of construction materials/products being sold high in this coastal area.

An OBITUARY will be put up in this space for the benefit and knowledge of everyone, especially those who are away from home...i.e. our beloved Palompon. So I am inviting everybody to submit the names of their friends and relatives who died ahead of us for information and publication. Just give the details like name, age, address and date and time of internment if available.
