Dandruff is the flaking of the scalp which is often caused by exposure to extreme heat or cold. Sometimes, dandruff is accompanied by redness and irritation. Dandruff can be treated with special shampoos, but there are also a number of home remedies that are effective.

Here is a short list of home remedies for dandruff.

You can use apple cider vinegar to rinse your hair and scalp to treat dandruff. Apple cider is known to kill fungus and bacteria. Aside from apple cider, you can also use a mixture of egg and water. Take and egg and a tablespoon of water. Mix then together and apply to your wet hair for about 15 minutes. Rinse your hair with lemon juice, and then rinse more thoroughly with water.

Massage oil on your scalp after shampooing. After a few minutes, rinse it out. This can help moisturize your scalp and improve blood circulation.

Add healthy fats to your diet. An ounce of almonds and a tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil can help you get the healthy fats that you lack in your diet.

Use a humidifier. This can keep the moisture in the air in your environment and prevent your hair and scalp from being too dry.

Try to limit the number and amount of hair products that you use. Excessive amounts of hair products like shampoo, conditioner, gels, sprays, and many others can irritate the scalp and cause or worsen dandruff.
