Manila, Philippines—Cartoon Network’s “Is There a Gwen in You?,” a search for Southeast Asian girls who embody the best characteristics of the evil-busting supergirl Gwen Tennyson from “Ben 10,” found a winner in 9-year-old Gwenevere Lopez. Also known as Gwen, she stood out with her confidence and dynamism, and was awarded the title Pinay Gwen.
The Philippines topped the number of entries from Southeast Asian countries, with more than 3,500 young Filipinas logging on to the dedicated gwen10.com. They all took an interactive quiz which tested for the positive characteristics displayed by Gwen Tennyson. A panel of Cartoon Network experts selected the Pinay girl who resembled Gwen most.
Gwenevere was awarded Gwen-branded apparel, bags and accessories, a Nintendo DS Lite with new games, Cartoon Network goodies and the experience of a Gwen-themed photo-shoot. She will join other winners from across Southeast Asia to represent Gwen in empowering girls to have greater self-esteem, confidence and live a healthy, active lifestyle.
Like her animated idol, Gwenevere, a third grade student from Montessori School in Muntinlupa, is tech-savvy. She has the same fashion sense as Gwen—sporty, casual and no frills. She is good in taekwondo and aspires to be a female hero in the future.
