MANILA, Philippines – After a long wait, Charice will finally make her "comeback" appearance on "Glee" via its April 19 episode, “A Night of Neglect.”
Charice, whom “Glee” fans first saw in Season 2’s pilot episode last September, is glad that her character, foreign exchange student Sunshine Corazon, “is finally back.”
“I felt that I was shooting the first episode again,” said Charice in a behind-the-scenes “Glee” footage uploaded recently on YouTube.
Shooting for the episode was a “nerve-wracking” experience for her, the Filipina singer said.
“I just couldn’t believe that I'm here again,” she enthused.
As seen in a sneak peek of the episode which was also uploaded on YouTube, Sunshine volunteers to join the benefit concert of New Directions, the choir she’s supposedly part of had she not been traumatized by the group's star singer Rachel Berry (Lea Michele) by sending her to a crack house in episode one.
Sunshine convinces the group that she’s not a “terrible spy” albeit she’s with their rival group, Vocal Adrenaline. She offers them a song: Celine Dion’s “All By Myself.”
Taking on another big song on the show after performing Beyonce’s “Listen” during the “Audition” episode apparently isn’t a problem for Charice as “All By Myself” has been “a part of [her] life.”
“When I found out about the song, I freaked out. I’ve been singing that song since I was a kid,” Charice said about the song, which she has performed for the “David Foster and Friends” concert series and earned her some standing ovations.
Her performance of “All By Myself” earned her a thumbs up from “Glee” cast member Ashley Fink, who plays Lauren Zizes.
“It’s incredible… it’s crazy, to see something so large coming from someone so tiny,” she said in the same behind-the-scenes interview.
“Be ready, America. Bring a tissue,” Ashley added.
Celebrity blogger and fervent supporter Perez Hilton and Westlife member Mark Feehily likewise gave Charice's song number their stamp of approval.
As seen in Charice’s re-tweets of their posts last April 17, Perez said “This gave me goosebumps! Wow!” while Mark said, “Check out my girl @OfficialCharice nailing a Celine vocal!! Good to see you back on Glee sweetie x.”
Fans can expect to see Charice in a few more episodes, as the 18-year-old YouTube sensation herself confirmed in earlier interviews.
“A Night of Neglect” will be aired in the Philippines on April 20.
Charice’s international music career is likewise in full swing with the release of her new single, “Before It Explodes,” on April 18 (US time). The song, which was previously recorded by 2008 “X Factor” winner Alexandra Burke, was written by Ari Levine and Fil-Am Grammy winner Bruno Mars. According to an article by MarketWire, “BIE” is produced by The Smeezingtons, which lists Bruno a member.
By May, Charice will reportedly release another song called “Louder.” The MarketWire article also stated that Charice is a featured vocalist on “Waiting Outside The Lines," a song by fellow YouTube star, Greyson Chance.
In her interview, Charice related, "It's thrilling to work with so many talented songwriters and producers… I had a fantastic time in the studio recording these songs and can't wait to perform them live for my fans.”
Charice is also filming for “Here Comes The Boom,” in which she acts alongside Salma Hayek, Kevin James and Henry Winkler. She even made a Twitter account for her character, Maila Dela Cruz, as she did with Sunshine Corazon.
