MANILA, Philippines – The local celebrities whom Willie Revillame verbally attacked on his show "Willing Willie" recently remain cool despite the TV host’s accusations that they ruined his name on Twitter.
Revillame, currently under fire over the controversy involving six-year-old “macho dancing” kid Jan-Jan Suan, vehemently dropped the names of APO Hiking Society member Jim Paredes, internationally acclaimed theater performer Lea Salonga, singer Aiza Seguerra, TV host Bianca Gonzales, comediennes Tuesday Vargas and K Brosas, actresses Agot Isidro and Mylene Dizon, and singer-turned-political activist Leah Navarro during the April 8 episode of “Willing Willie.”
The TV host questioned the contributions these personalities have given the country.
"Susuportahan n'yo ba ang mga taong iyan? Kapwa tayo artista. Nakagawa ba kayo ng tulong? Nagbigay ba kayo sa Bantay Bata ng P1 million?
"Huwag kayong manghusga ng kapwa ninyo artista. Dapat magkakasama tayo. Tulungan ninyo kami kung nagkakamali kami, huwag kayong manghuhusga. Tandaan ninyo, 'yong masang Pilipino ang sumusuporta sa inyo,” he said.
Revillame also hinted at the possibility of filing a case against those whom he believes lambasted him on Twitter.
“Kung idedemanda ka ng TV5, idedemanda rin kita. Magdedemandahan tayo. Idedemanda ko lahat ng tumira sa akin sa Twitter. Lahat ng personal, tandaan mo 'yan!" he exclaimed.
The celebrities took to the social microblogging site also on Friday their reactions on the beleaguered host’s latest tirades.
In a series of posts, Salonga said: “Last I checked it’s actually a right of every person in this country to express an opinion, good or bad. We live in a democracy, and I'm grateful. And that is all I'm going to say.”
The Tony Award winner added, “Nothing incendiary will be coming from me. No need for it.”
Paredes, meanwhile, argued, “How can a laos, old, over the hill guy like me destroy a sikat, powerful, rich Superstar like Willie? He did it all by himself.”
He also re-tweeted an invectives-laden and threatening response from a Twitter user, responding to the post with: “Nakalista na yung death threat mo kagabi. And please greet the same wonderful greeting to your mom.”
Former child star-turned-acoustic singer Seguerra---to whom Revillame directed, “magpakalalaki ka! Bata ka pa, hindi ba, nagtatrabaho ka na? Hindi ba exploitation 'yan? Mag-isip ka!”---simply told her followers: “Sa mga sumusuporta, salamat po.”
She also re-tweeted demeaning remarks from Twitter users who called her “imoral,” a “nightmare,” “unggoy” and “gahaman sa pera,” among other things.
“Showbiz News Ngayon” host Bianca Gonzales, who has been supporting the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) for several years now, shared a quotation from a certain Mark Gosingtian, apparently a freelance designer.
“mark gosingtian wrote: where i'm from, everyone's a hero. lahat ng pinoy, may ginagawa para sa ikabubuti ng bayan, nalalaman man o hindi. :),” she posted.
Brosas, for her part, maintained that she merely stated her opinion on the controversial subject through her tweets. “Ako ay nagbigay ng OPINION ko...wala akong siniraan at binanggit na name....pwedeng basahin uli mga tweets ko, never ako nagbura! Peace! :)” she posted.
The actress is also unaffected by the possibility of being sued.
“Ang daming problema sa mundo, mga trahedya, gera etc...dun ako affected...demanda dahil sa opinion?? Wait na lng natin kung mangyayari yon:)”
“Sa mga haters na nagtatanong kung may naitulong po ba ako sa kapwa...di ko po kailangan I BROADCAST yon o isumbat...alam ni LORD yon...bow!♥” she added.
Vargas---to whom Revillame said, “hindi ko maintindihan, taga-rito ka, tinira mo ko”---tweeted that she “will remain tolerant and silent… in light of this uproar.”
She also compiled all her past posts on the matter on her Tumblr site.
“I stand by my belief that what I said is my unbiased opinion about the situation. I do not have any malicious intent to judge anyone or anything. I am a media practitioner and a mother who cares enough to share her thoughts on the matter,” a part of her introduction read.
Dizon, meanwhile, posted: “I will not be bullied. I will not threatened. Sticks and stones may break my bones but your words will never hurt me.”
Isidro assured her followers that she’s fine despite Revillame's remark that, "wala ka namang anak, eh, bakit mo ako gaganyanin? Alamin mo muna."
“Thank you for the outpouring of support. I am A-ok! Don't worry about me. Dun lang tayo sa tama,” tweeted the singer-actress.
Navarro has not posted a tweet related to the matter as of this writing. In his “speech” on “Willing Willie,” Revillame lamented about her supposed bias against him as member of the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board, which currently investigates the “Jan-Jan” hullabaloo.
“Si Ms. Leah Navarro hinusgahan na ko sa tweet tapos isa siya sa mga board [members],” he said.
Despite his remarks against his critics, Revillame clarified that he’s not mad at them.
“Pasensya na ho kayo, hindi ako emosyonal, hindi ako nagagalit, kaya lang sana bago kayo manghusga ng kapwa niyo, tumingin kayo sa salamin, anong nagawa ko sa bansa ko? Anong nagawa ko sa kababayan natin?” he said on “Willing Willie.
