Palompon, Leyte
It has been four years and eighth months since I filed and was approved my optional retirement from the Bureau of Customs, Sub-port of Isabel, Isabel, Leyte. And as I reminisce the days when I was still working in the said Port, it seems that nothing big has change, except for the fact that I am not anymore working with my former colleagues in the BOC.
As of now I am happy with what I am now as a Licensed Real Estate Broker.....trying to convince my co-employees to save something for the future by investing in real estate such as condominium, house and lot, lot only, and others.....but I don't want to dwell on these but on their anniversary wherein your humble self was invited, being a former employee of the said Bureau.,
If I remember right, this is the first time ever that an anniversary of the Sub-port was celebrated, because I worked with the said agency from 1991 to 2007 when I optionally retired..My position then was under Port Operation Section as Security Guard II but from time to time was also assigned as a Customs Inspector.
"The promulgation if Executive Order NO. 127 on January 30, 1987 by the late President Madam CORAZON COJUANGCO AQUINO in relation to Executive Order No. 39 dated August 9, 1986 was the authority and/or reference in the existence of the Sub-port of Isabel under the Principal Port of Entry of Customs Collection District VIII".................................Coll.SEVELLINO C. TOMOL.
As can be gleaned from the roster of former and current Collector of Customs
I can say that I have been a part or have worked under all of them.
I can also proudly say that during my term as Acting Cashier from 2001 to 2007, was the peak of the collection performance of the said Sub-Port as can be seen from the graph showing the Collection Performance from 1988 up to 2012.
But I can't also blame the others because the collection performance is very much affected by external factors such as the economic downturn that happened in the USA and European countries, which is still happening now. Only the Asian countries remain to be robust particularly China, Indonesia and luckily the Philippines because of the OFW's that keep on remitting dollars that make the economy in the black.
Above are the Collector of Customs assigned in the Sub-Port from 1988 to present. And can be seen below is the current Organizational Chart of the Sub-Port of Isabel, Leyte.

Small and petite Nina D. Acenas, a contractual employee who has been serving the Sub-Port for more than five years already is a recipient of a plaque of appreciation given by the collection agency for a job well done particularly and/or especially the 24th Founding Anniversary of the Sub-Port.
Group singing led by the Sub-Port Collector saying "If We Hold On Together" we will surpass whatever problem encountered in the performance of their assigned task.
I am suggesting next time during the Silver Anniversary of the Sub-Port, to avoid using notes while singing and instead use the idiot box where a song of Diana Ross can be downloaded together with lyrics so that they won't be distracted by holding notes.....they don't even know if the audience they are singing to are still there because the are busy looking at their individual notes.
The Acting Deputy Collector once again on the rostrum to close the short program and also to thank the visitors and guest who shared with them their pride and happiness in celebrating the 24th Founding Anniversary of the Sub-Port of Isabel, Leyte.
A retired former Customs employee, Mr. Samuel Pernia, singing his heart out with an all time favorite which almost everybody knows that it's his signature (jazz) song when asked (voluntary sometimes)to sing in such occasion.
