WHILE the real estate industry offers promising career opportunities, aspiring real estate practitioners should be cautious in choosing which review centers to enroll in, an accredited organization for real estate service practice said.
This is to protect them from “fly-by-night” operators or firms that are only after profit and have no regard for the quality of the review session, said officials of the Philippine Institute of Real Estate Service Practitioners Inc. (Philres Inc.)-Mandaue chapter.
Philres Mandaue City interim president Hilario Escudero III said these review centers should be accredited with the Philippine Regulatory Commission (PRC) as mandated by the Real Estate Service Act of the Philippines.
In a resolution released last Sept. 26, the Professional Regulatory Board for Real Estate announced that it will no longer accept requests or applications for accreditation to conduct Real Estate Review and Seminars without approval of the PRC.
All applications should be submitted to PRC’s Standards and Operations Division for evaluation and endorsement to the board.
Jose Ma. Gianzon, Philres-Mandaue chairman for advocacy and bantay colorum committee, said reviewees should ask PRC for a list of accredited review centers.
“(If they don’t, they will end up) wasting time, money and effort,” said Gianzon.
He said the group will also keep an eye on unscrupulous and unlicensed real estate practitioners.
The PRC has tapped Philres to act as integrated professional organization for real estate service practice.
Philres Inc. has over 3,000 members nationwide. The Mandaue chapter records some 170 members.
Escudero announced that they will be holding a 12-day (every Saturday and Sunday) Real Estate Brokers Review and Seminar starting Oct. 20 in Benedicto College in A.S. Fortuna, Mandaue City.
The whole-day activity will be conducted by PhilRES Inc.-Cagayan de Oro City under Philres chairman Pilar Torres-Banaag, who is also an accredited lecturer.
Malunde Bentulan, Philres-Mandaue interim executive vice president, said this is an opportune time for college graduates or professionals to become licensed real estate practitioners without taking the four-year real estate management course,.
Bentulan said that as soon as all universities and colleges adopt the curriculum, only graduates of the course can take the licensure examination.
