Quest attempts to bridge gap in hotel prices

Quest attempts to bridge gap in hotel prices

THERE is no middle-point hotel in Cebu. It’s either very expensive or very low, said Quest Hotels Area General Manager James M. Montenegro in an interview at the hotel’s launch in Cebu City this week.
“Why not?” Montenegro quipped when asked why Cebu was chosen for its first location in the Philippines, a three-star hotel with at least 400 rooms. He said it’s a perfect opportunity to help develop Cebu as a tourist destination in Asia, and that travelers should not have to pay US$100 per night at a hotel.
The Quest Hotel and Convention Center is part of the Quest Properties-Indonesia managed by Filinvest Corp. and situated in a Filinvest-owned property, beside its condominium tower project, on Archbishop Reyes Ave., Cebu City, right across the Cebu Business District.
Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama, in his speech at the event, said the establishment of Quest Hotel signals “a quest for excellence.”
Montenegro said he expects that 80 percent of Quest’s market will be local corporate clients.
The hotel is positioning itself as a world-class, yet pocket-friendly establishment that bridges the gap between hotel categories in Cebu when it comes to cost.
Its amenities include a restaurant, pool, meeting rooms, and clean, comfortable rooms.
The goal is to establish brand awareness of Quest Hotel in the first year and eventually increase its value in the long run, Montenegro said.
According to its website, Quest has two hotels in Bali and one in Java, and four other properties being developed in both areas.
