When In Manila, we’re not attributing any of the images below since we follow our government officials and they, or at least one of them, say that there is no such thing as plagiarism in the Philippines. So pretty much, we made all these memes below. If you have a problem with that, take it up with the Senate and my Tito.
Joking and sarcasm aside.
In case you’re not familiar, here’s the short version of the story: There is comedian who turned into a Senator in the Philippines who was caught plagiarizing from bloggers, twisting their words and meanings into supporting his supposed divine tasks. Anyway, at first the comedian turned senator denied it on TV and defaced and mocked bloggers, but then his staff admitted to copying, to which the only thing to do would be to apologize, but the comedian turned senator said hell no and kept going, he then stated that there was no such thing as “plagiarism” in the Philippines and his “cheap of staff” stated that even god himself copied when he made us as we are all copies of his image, to which of course the whole internetosphere when ballistic on these claims, then following that the Senator, known now as TitoSen, says he was being “cyber bullied” from the outburst. And then at the end of it all, to prove a point comedian turned TitoSen went back to the senate floor to deliver a speech and prove his point but was caught plagiarizing AGAIN (IKR), well translating, his speech from that of Robert Kennedy that was given in 1966. We assume now that he will deface Kennedy like he did the bloggers and say something like “Why would I copy him, he’s just a Kennedy” (bakit ko kokopyahin yan, Kennedy lang yan) and will state that there are no laws against translation in the Philippines.
Whew. Hope you got all that.
Anyway, here are some of our favorite, and some of the funniest TitoSen memes and photos that came out since the whole “legal plagiarism” thingy. Blogger lang kami…
Sotto Copy
English translation: “Who did I copy from now? That was in Tagalog. Does Kennedy know how to speak Tagalog?” – TitoSen (clueless)
